Description

In an acclaimed, Oscar nominated performance, Rod Steiger portrays Sol, the embittered survivor of a Nazi death camp, now a Harlem pawnbroker. He harshly condemns his clientele as the dregs of society, and ridicules his idealistic assistant, Ortiz. But when Ortiz risks his life for Sol, he finally learns a lesson about hope and humanity.
