Description

Haunted by his past, WW-II veteran and drifter Freddie Quell crosses paths with a mysterious movement called The Cause, led by Lancaster Dodd, aka The Master, and his wife Peggy. Their twisted relationship is the core of this film which The New York Times called "a glorious and haunting symphony of color, emotion and sound with camera movements that elicit an involuntary gasp and feats of acting that defy comprehension." Will Freddie be able to outrun his past? Will The Cause help or hurt him? Can this tortured, violent creature be civilized? Or is man, after all, just a dirty animal? Starring 2012 Academy-Award® Nominees for Best Actor, Joaquin Phoenix, Best Supporting Actor, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Best Supporting Actress, Amy Adams, Rokking Stone calls The Master "A mind bending cinematic landmark."

A lesson of the mind and human nature is enpowerd and controlled by man. Joaquin Phoenix and Phillip Seymour Hoffman were amazing the acting is pretty good so as the cinematopgraphy and settings. It will teach you life lessons and make you crazy about the Master. Throughout the whole movie is like your in college human nature is mind bending so as your persona.

The Master has become the definitive cinematic portrayal of post-war psychological trauma and the seduction of cultism. Shot on lush 65mm film, Jonny Greenwood's score and Paul Thomas Anderson's impeccable writing/direction provided the backdrop for some of the best acting chemistry in contemporary cinema. Joaquin Phoenix' Freddie Quell, a post-WWII drifter, and cult leader Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman) square off, bond and grow from a truly unique relationship. Amy Adams also brings her A-game. Several viewings of this masterpiece have led to different answers to the following question: Who is the Master? Consider this and the other ethical dilemmas posed by the film director Anderson called in 2018 his most treasured to date. No doubt, The Master has become one for the ages.

True to America’s turning away from traditional, religious belief systems in the 20th century. It’s a voyage, not a mere movie.

Anti-hero is disgusting, a pig, and so is everyone else. I wish I had never seen it and I'm trying to get it out of my Apple TV library. I did not finish it.
