Description

High school football Coach Victor Trenton is beloved by the town and is a father figure to his team. When the all-star player collapses during an intense practice, all eyes turn to the storied head coach. Instead of mollifying the situation, he tries to push the team to continue their winning streak rather than dealing with the circumstances. Now with the player’s mother pressing charges, the coach must decide if his reputation, his career, and his livelihood are worth his pride.

The Last Whistle is a drama about high school football coach Vic and his championship team but it's more than that. Brad Leland from Friday Night Lights plays coach Vic and Deanne Lauvin who plays the mother of his star receiver is his nemesis here. Coach in real life, Les Miles and Eric Nelsen round out the top-billed cast but the acting was all really top notch. This film is realistic in showing football here in Texas as well as how tragedy can strike and how people can overcome in the end. Put a tear in my eye and just really enjoyed the film overall, enough to watch it a second time and second viewing was even better.

LOVED this movie so much! Amazing actors, producing, editing, etc. Football is a religion in Texas, and health is definitely overlooked when the concept of winning stands in the way. I hope lots of coaches, players, parents, and supporters will watch this and stay up to date on the player's physical health and state of mind!

This movie really hits you in the feels, folks. If you value sports films, family dramas, inner struggle/redemption, college coaching legend Les Miles and Jerry from Parks and Rec putting on a show, and/or valuable lessons regarding teenage health, then you'll absolutely love your decision to click “buy.”
