Seriously? I would have given 2 stars if the sharks had lasers on their heads.

Some nice siege and arena combat scenes and the sets are also lavish and well executed. Unfortunately, there is little else to enjoy. The emperor brothers are also REALLY weird and inflict serious damage on the credibility of this movie. Dismissing the flagrant historical inaccuracies…such as Lucilla (Nielsen) surviving her brother Commodus (Phoenix) and a black gladiatorial trainer (Washington) basically running Rome and executing its emperors, the key problem is that the movie devolves into a myriad of nonsensical subplots. This unwinding begins about half way through and renders the movie and obfuscated and unpalatable mess. I would also like to know how the director believed the Romans could have acquired enough salt water to fill the Coliseum, allowing the sharks to swim around and munch on hapless combatants?

Decent movie, but not as great as the original. Good action scenes and CGI. Acting was kind of blah. I wouldn't recommed it for an Academy Award, but it's a good popcorn movie.
