After their traveling show breaks down in a Pennsylvania village, Doc Watterson and his daughter Sally stay with Peter Cortlandt, an aspiring oilman. As Peter and Sally fall in love, Peter's hard work leads him to discover oil that could make everyone in the village rich, but their happiness is threatened when a dishonest railroad mogul tries to take the land and oil for himself.
