Never should’ve been made. Mara Wilson is terrible, the whole thing was terrible. All actors, the whole script. just trash. never been so embarrassed for a production company.

One of my favorite movies. Saw it in the theater on Thanksgiving Day when it came out and have watched it every year since. A classic. The scenery and costumes are among my favorites of all time.

This was one of my favorite movies growing up. I never saw the original, so to be perfectly fair, I can’t compare it to that. Instead, I’ll give my thoughts on the remake only. As a child, I loved this film, but as an adult it doesn’t sit right with me. I’m an atheist, and this movie portrays skeptical people as misguided, rigid, and cold. The comparison between belief in Santa and belief in God is obvious, with the filmmakers showing a clear bias towards one side. At the end of the film, the protagonist is vindicated because of “In God We Trust” present on US currency. It’s stated that God is backed by the US government and you get an overwhelming sense that the antagonist, while never directly stated, is an atheist (who often refer to themselves as nonbelievers). It’s unsettling to see skeptics portrayed as rude, unfeeling people with, to borrow a phrase from the film, “grumpy faces.” While the film is well made, I encourage people to think critically about its message. If you’re not sure where to start, ask your friendly neighborhood nonbeliever. They’d likely be more than happy to share their experiences with you.

I'm not sure why there are so many violently bad reviews of this movie. It's not supposed to be Citizen Kane; it's a sweet, sentimental family Christmas movie designed to invoke holiday spirit and warm fuzzies, and it does just that. The original is, of course, incomparable, but this remake is charming in its own right, and worth seeing.

I love this movie so much but one thing I don't like is that guy that made Santa look bad I don't like those bad guys they are horrible he didn't mean to hurt him! They shouldn't have put him in jail

This is the best movie you don't even need the original this is so simple to understand you couldn't ask for a better movie I rate it more than 5 stars

…and watch the superior-in-every-way original instead.

We watch this every year on Thanksgiving evening. It's a family tradition. Probably one of the best performances ever by Dylan McDermott, Elizabeth Perkins and the wonderful Mara Wilson. You couldn't have cast a better little girl in the part! She's just extraordinary!
