this film has always worked for me. Not so much for other people I talk to. I'll never understand the hate towards this film.
Even Roger Ebert couldn't stand Graham Faulkner's portrayal of Francis. overall a very good movie.
Still beautiful after all these years

Historically accurate? No. Over the top at times? Yes.
But clear your mind and watch. Allow yourself to enjoy this beautiful story.
(Non Catholics can certainly enjoy this movie)

This movie, is perhaps one of my favorite movies on St. Francis. Yes, it does have a campy 70s feel to it and it does take a few liberties with St. Francis but the message and heart are there. It also has a beautiful soundtrack by Donovan.
I highly recommend this film for it is well acted by Graham Faulkner (Francis) and Judi Bowker (Claire). If you want a movie on a gloomy day or day that you are feeling down, this film will fill you with happiness and joy. It is definitely a feel good film that will raise anyone's spirits.

I love the scenery, especially the fields of poppy. You could completely empathize with the St. Francis character. Everyone should see this movie, especially if you like to collect expensive handbags, diamond rings, and other materialistic things galore.
