The best thing to see from the film was seeing David Duchony and Gillian Anderson play these characters again and seeing Chris Carter as a director and writer back into the show. I'm a big fan of the show even though it has ended!

Look at it as one of the good episodes when it was on T.V. and you will be pleased.
  • Outstanding movie which gets back to character roots

I loved the TV version of The X-Files. Not because of aliens, not because of the supernatural, not because of the "monster of the week". I loved X-Files because what we viewed constantly challenged our beliefs and belief systems. What do we believe? Can our beliefs change? Does it matter if our beliefs are "right"? Doesn't anything really matter if we don't have each other? This movie goes to the heart of these issues, to the core of humanity and our needs and desires. And it does it expertly under Chris Carter's watch through Mulder and Scully. Their on-screen spark and chemistry is there wonderfully throughout, the same questions are brought forth yet again through a string of kidnappings and murders, yet uniquely and with originality. Even the same personal reflections are there: "I'm not sure what I believe." Classic X-Files. I want more. IMO, if you enjoy what X-Files is really about at its core: its characters, human frailty, passion and beliefs, you'll love this movie. Like others have said, go in without expectations. No matter what movie you see, expectations will ALWAYS kill it. Enjoy this one for the love of the journey. It's great.

I Want to Believe made the one from 1998 look like an Academy Award winner. This film was hastily thrown together...and at best was an overdrawn 44 minute episode from the nostalgic past. I guess the only thing that kept me in my seat was the music by Mark Snow. I wanted to believe the movie was going to be an X-FILE but, ended up being something like fake-bad acting-no plot-CSI-crapola. ***SPOILER ALERT*** If you wanted Mulder and Scully together after all these years, you got your wish. As for the rest of us, we will have to wonder why Carter and company left us out hanging in the breeze.

I just saw this movie wow talking about keeping an open mind. This movie is the kind that when you watch it you say what then everything falls in place. The movie was good but two things about it I would ignore. My thought.

I love The X-Files and what it has done for the paranormal and the supernatural! Why people hate this movie I'll never know...I loved it and watch it all the time!

I loved this show when it was on television. And I also realized it had flaws, some small (Scully's wardrobe) and some big (totally derivative of Silence of the Lambs in its execution). This movie was like a poorly directed, poorly produced, fractured television episode. Dare I say at times it looked even cheaper than the tv show. Disappointing, but not wholly unexpected since I figured out a while ago that Chris Carter really isn't that clever. Cute ending, though.

I just wanted to get someone's opinion before I bought this movie. they have to copies of this movie buy - the regular one and this one that says "special edition".... so what is the difference do you get any extras with the special edition one???? P.S.= X-FILES IS AND WAS THEE BEST TV SHOW EVER OUT THERE!!! &&& BOTH MOVIES WERE AWESOME (DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THE HATERS OR CRITICS SAYS)!!!!

and most likely, the last chapter for a great series. This X-File runs deep - deeper than the ice. Spinning the status quo on its head, the movie questions medical ethics, faith, morality, the supernatural, and all that people believe. Much of that depth is in the dialog, or quiet moments such as when they look at photos of the Presidents (past and current). And of course, after all the credits are over, the surprise ending. That ending is for all the fans. A big Thank You to 20th Century Fox, Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, and all the cast and crew for giving the X-Files series one last ghost story, a tale of spooky monsters, told around the camp fire.
