    Great acting, but I don't get what all the fuss was about with this movie. The plot is sort of interesting, but I just felt they tried to make it more suspenseful than the story actually was. I was def. not on the edge of my seat, like the reviews claimed I would be, at any point. Just not for me.

    The crackling dialogue and spare but elegant plotting of the film script elevates this story. The book is not quite as witty, and occasionally derails its own momentum. The film, however, strips away the non-essentials and showcases Dench and Blanchett beautifully. Bill Nighy is marvelous as the put-upon spouse. And Philip Glass's dreamy and repetitive fugues are strangely perfect for this little comedy of horrors.

    omg i loved this movie. cate blanchett is one of those rare actresses who just make you shiver with how real her performance is. she derserves every award in the book, judi dench too. phenomenal film.

    I've seen this film several times and always love it. A must have in any well rounded collection. It's heavy and full of plot twists, great acting, great directing, excellent plot and plenty of drama.

    This movie really deserves oscars! both dench and blanchett are superb in roles that are really dense and hard to play, they shine as actors. the storyline of course is a tabu even though it's reality. Marital problems, living with a disabled child, feeling old but still wanting youth, loneliness and the tender subject of youth attracted to power (in the role of the teacher) and also the feeling of being wanted is all connected to a webbing of immense beauty and depth, truth and shame. A movie anyone could have something in commong with! Highly recommended!

    Even if I had not read the book this movie wasted the talent of two world class actors. I found the pace disjointed and somewhat confusing. My advice? Read the book!
