An unappreciated gem

The series of shoot-outs that provide the movie's prologue are first-rate. Bridges leads a solid ensemble. David Arquette in particular delivers an arresting and off-beat turn. Largely adapted from a play, director Hill chose to heighten the theatricality throughout, which neither critics nor public seemed to get.
What a Shame

What a Shame. Jeff Bridges looks so good as Wild Bill. But, this movie is so shallow and reminds me of one of the old made-for-tv movies of the 1970s. I hate to see a story with such potential done so poorly.
