If you are a regular anime fan, this is not your traditional anime, I was so majorly disappointed with this anime, I would of enjoy it more if they didn't used some computer automatic fill in garbage instead the traditional cell paint , everything is computer fill in. rent before you see it. I got so much of a headache watching this anime. There is nothing artistic about computers doing the work for you . RENT BEFORE YOU BUY!

I'm not a huge anime buff, but I do love the Count of Monte Cristo. When my friend suggested this series to me, I put it off for a while. So, one day I checked it out, and I was hooked. The art style is very unqiue on so many different levels, the music is amazing (wink wink iTunes), and the twist of the story is a nice touch. I strongly sugguest this to anyone

I've never watched the English dub of this show, but I don't think that would stop me from buying this, had I the money.
This. Show. Is. AWESOME. This is HANDS DOWN one of THE BEST anime I have EVER watched. It's unique, tells a great story, has gorgeous animation... it's just GOOD. Period.
(I apologize for the overuse of caps, but this show deserves it. That's how awesome it is.)
If anyone out there is tired of watching the same boring old worn out mainstream stuff and is ready for a little variety, come watch 'Gankutsuou'. You won't be disappointed. I guarantee it. : )

The animation and visuals were absolutely stunning, not to mention a great cast of voice actors.My only complaints are that at times the visuals can be too much, taking away from other details,and for such a great series the ending was very weak,I was hoping to be blown away not disapointed. But all in all, this is a great show to check out.

Visually, this is probably one of the most stunning animes I've ever seen. You'll either love or hate the style, but the general reaction seems to be on the positive side. Though it deviates quite a bit from the original source material, fans of the original Count of Monte Cristo should not be disappointed. I'm happy that this anime got on to iTunes, it could use a lot more coverage.

Nice. Just....nice. (Gankutsuou: very imaginative and detailed portrayal of Le Comte de Monte-Cristo and interestingly drawn- note, very vibrant colours and Cullen-esque sparkling at times. The scenery is like a collage and the setting opulently done. I recommend. Just overly happy at ITunes embrasure of anime, finally. Finally. And for one of my five top animes. Itunes, keep it up!)
