Compared to this dog, Plan Nine from Outer Space is a wok of genius. This is from my generation. It bites just as much now as it did then. If Ed Wood had this kind of budget this is the film he would have made. Not funny, not cool, and 98% of the gags fall completely flat. It is total garbage. Its only distinguishing characteristic is how many recognizable faces are in the cast. There is absolutely nothing fun or cool about this thing. Just junk.

The script is horrible and the acting alternates between monotone and over the top silliness. The musical score as well as the special effects are cheap. There are so many awkward pauses by the actors that you can tell they were having a hard time coming up with anything to say. There is virtually no character development and the plot is an inconsequential mess. Other than the plot, the acting, the score, the sets, the script and the special effects- this is a fantastic movie! The critics "fresh" review with a tomatometer score of 71% is a great example of peer pressure- Buckaroo is a great movie = The Emperor's clothes are gorgeous!

The perfect movie for a good laugh. It's got quotable lines, a silly villain, and just overall goofiness. It's a true PG movie!

This movie’s roots are in the SiFi adventure films of the 1930s from which a modern structure has been built. It has lots of action and some romance but when John Lithgow appears the hilarity starts. He not only steals the movie but also the audience, the dogs and the spiders. When he takes his shoes off—well I don’t want to spoil the movie for you. This is considered a cult film but isn’t some intellectual, complex drama but falls into the comedies group that include The Rocky Horror Picture show—very sexy, the Repo Man—sly and counterculture, Beetlejuice—Tim Burton’s macabre humor, and the totally black comedy, Falling Down. This movie is worth watching for Lithgow’ performance alone. Christopher Lloyd has a part but unfortunately he is hidden behind a mask that limits his abilities.

O.K. This is not Shakespear, but it is very entertaining. You put reality on hold and just enjoy the ride. And after all, isn't that the idea every time we sit down to watch a movie?

Worth watching. Not incredible, but not bad either. Cool characters, interesting plot, bad special effects. 1970's feel.
  • You forgot your Overthruster!

"No matter where you go, there you are." It takes an open mind to get this movie, but it's worth it. John Lithgow is unbelievable!!

The genius of this movie is the intricate detail of the movie that moves between satire and comedy while still emphasizing the ability of the actors to make their own characters. The plot is probably not the best, but it gives memorable performances, including those from John Lithgow whose one-liners are so awesome they exude coolness, comic genius, and geek at the same time. The only bad thing about the movie is that there was not a sequel! Truly a wonderful movie that makes the ganglia twitch!
