The show itself is great but it is available on BluRay so why is it only SD on iTunes?
  • Sometimes the classics are the best.

The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy BBC television adaptation actually covers the eponymous novel as well as it's first sequel, The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe and features members from the original radio dramatization, which predates the book too. Originally aired in 1981 on BBC Two, in many ways despite the dating of the effects, the limitations together with the clever writing and inventive makeup as well as the cast manage to create the illusion of a much larger universe waiting to be explored and as a result adds to the sense of wonder one got from the radio and book versions. What makes the TV series work as well as the books is in it's own way, Author and Creator Douglas Adams manages to create a universe where no matter how absurd it gets, it stays consistent to the rules that are setup and in doing so becomes a truly believable science fiction universe, which it parodies. There is a humorous sense of futility to the story and the episodic nature makes viewing compelling. The wealth of extra features included make this an exceptional value too. For the fans and the curious, one can't go wrong trying or purchasing this cult television classic now available digitally on iTunes.
