Description

In this endearing, classic sitcom that's more relevant now than ever, a headstrong and optimistic single mom from New Jersey is on her way to Hollywood to pursue a career as a singer when her car breaks down in Phoenix. With her 12-year-old son and herself to feed, Alice (Linda Lavin) makes the best of her waitress job serving greasy food to demanding customers at Mel's Diner. Luckily, she has her oddball co-workers — the fun-loving, man-chasing Flo (Polly Holliday); sweet, ditzy Vera (Beth Howland); and their gruff boss, Mel (Vic Tayback) — to brighten her days while she keeps her dreams of stardom alive.     "Kiss my grits"! Flo made that show. She played that character perfect. I was just a kid when we moved to AZ in the late 70's. Did u know there really was a Mel's Dinner in Phoenix?

    I use to watch this show when I was 6 years old. I use to love Flo an Mel. I was too young to understand the themes of the shows. Now that I am 43...OMG....WHAT AN WHO WROTE THIS PIECE OF BULLCRAP? Basically ALICE is a LIBERAL...who is a single parent trying to raise her child to be a HOMOSEXUAL SISSY. She is going after her own dreams of becoming a singer instead of trying to raise her child as a man. Instead of getting married to one of her ex boyfriend that could give her a home an a stable life for her son...she decides to turn him down an keep raising him as a GIRL. They also teach that GUNS ARE BAD...which when I GREW up...I WENT HUNTING with my father an it was not traumatizing as they make her son out to be. THE MORALS AN VALUES OF THIS SHOW ARE SO RETARDED AN MESSED UP....NO WONDER WHY AMERICA HAS TURNED THEIR BACK ON GOD AN BECAME HOMOSEXUALS AN SISSIES....WAKE UP PEOPLE...ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE AMERICA GETS TAKen OVER AN ITS BECUASE OF STUPID MORON SHOWS LIKE THIS ONE.

    One of my all time favs. Don't make shows like this any more, pity they don't show re-runs on television. Once you've seen one episode you want to keep watching them all. iTunes should release more seasons, we'd all look forward to them!!!
