  • Awful Replacement for Work of Art

I used to love the show "Work of Art". I guess they replaced it with these awful people, thinking that people watched "Work of Art" for the sniping? No, Bravo, we watched it because it was a good show, despite the cattiness, which never amused me in the first place. This is a terrible third cousin to "Work of Art". Bring back Work of Art and put this back where ever it came from.

These girls are so inauthentic its disgusting. Who judges someone on what they are wearing or divides themselves along the lines of brooklyn and upper east side? They are so vacant and stupid it is cringeworthy to watch which is why I won't. I'm from NYC and I refuse to associate with anyone like that. They are the ULTIMATE POSERS. Sorry ladies…you will not lead happy or successful lives.

The point of this show is not whether it represents any aspect of the gallery world in NYC. There are many different coexistent worlds and the Next Great Artist show is no better, even if it does have Jerry Saltz and legitimate artists appearing on it. It's about creating a dynamic among the characters, the blondes v. brunettes, spoiled brats v. working girls, the matronly v. the fashion forward, the clueless v. the less-clueless. In that vein, I can say I will enjoy this show!
  • how to live without a soul

wow...this show is about nothing. it is a reality show, and I didn't expect much. i recently watched Bravo's Miss Advised, and although it was not 'Masterpiece Theater', i thought all three women on the show were people who were trying to live good lives while trying to have fufilling romantic relationships while having careers dispensing advice about the same. The women of 'Gallery Girls' seems to have less of an interest in art then putting each other down for lipstick and clothing choices and whether one lives in Brooklyn or Manhattan. And there are just rude, mean people. i know a lot of New Yorkers, and have been a part of the art community my whole life. While it can be highly competitive and brutal, I know many kind, thoughtful and intelligent women in the art world who truly care about their profession. i do not expect that from a reality series; however, most of the women on this show are so vindictive, crass and mean, I just can't see myself watching this show without wondering if these girls are some sort of new vampires who now live without souls and go from party to party...they almost make the poor little girls on 'Toddlers and Tiaras' looks like members of Mensa.

this show makes me embarrassed to run an art gallery in new york. that said, this show is definitely akin to a trainwreck. i'm sure i'll watch, mock bitterly, and continue to succeed in my own *real*, earned career.

I dont feel this show really portrays how the art/gallery scene is, and it is a lame show.
