In the fourth season of The Andy Griffith Show the arrival of George Lindsay's popular character, Goober Pyle, cousin to Jim Nabors's Gomer, makes his debut in one of the season's funniest episodes, "Fun Girls." Other guest stars such as, Andy Griffith's wife, Barbara Bray Edwards in "The Song Festers," Ron Howard's younger brother and father in "Black Day For Mayberry," and Howard Morris in "Ernest T. Bass Joins The Army" where he plays a man being rejected by the army. Some of the most memorable episodes include "Opie the Birdman," where Andy and Opie address serious topics such as, death and responsibility.
