I love period shows, this is no exception. This is one of the best shows I have seen in a very long time.

I am not a t.v. person; I never have been. I am a reader and a book lover and, until Call the Midwife, had I do not watch t.v.; I am a reader and a book lover. I have never found a movie or t.v. show that engaged me and immersed me the way books do-until Call the Midwife! Superbly cast, magnificantly acted, beautifully written, each episode is astonishing in it's ability to teleport you to another place, another time ,another life. Each character faultlessly portrayed-believable,human,flawed,transcendent. I am saying this for the first and probably, only time in my life: the show is better than the book.
